Canada Needs Revival, Eh!

I have seen an ongoing trend with our neighbors from the “Great White North.” The past decade, Canadians have continually visited revival services in Smithton and now at World Revival Church. They come in desperate need of change, transformation, and revival. What started out with a few hungry pastors and leaders has now spread throughout congregations. It isn’t unusual for some pastors to bring 30 or 40 people to our revival services. I am surprised when I hear many of them will drive over 24 hours just to get here. Their testimonies show they no longer want dead religion of just going through the motions but they want and need the power and presence of God.

Each time they visit, pastors are faced with the challenge of deciding if they themselves will pay the price to lead people into revival. I can tell you from experience this is a huge decision for pastors as it requires brokenness, humility, laying down their religious ideas, and total dependence on the Lord. This is a lot easier said, than done! Of course, pastors also need willingness within their congregations but are often faced with resistance and fear of change.

As Canadian pastors try to hang on to this hunger for revival, many have joined their churches together on occasion for the purpose of revival. This is a rare and exciting thing to see as competition between churches start to decrease while humility and hunger increases.

Kathy and I are putting on our winter snowsuits and heading to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan soon. We look forward to connecting with our Canadian friends and helping them continue to grow in revival. I love a line in their national anthem that says; “God keep our land glorious and free.” May Canada be free from dead, powerless religion and be full of life and revival!
