Today is a great day for our family. Kathy and I held our new grandson minutes after he was born… how amazing it is to hold a brand new life in your hands!
We’re so happy for our daughter and son-in-law. This baby is a miracle from God just like his big sister, and it reaffirms our faith in the God who still comes down to help his people. J.D. shared this past weekend about the surprises of God, and the surprise it was when our daughter told him she was pregnant.
I have a feeling God has a good time surprising people from time to time. An unexpected raise, a baby you never thought you’d hold, a “calendar moment” in His presence… these surprises keep life interesting and keep our faith fixed on the surprise-giver. There’s just something special when God goes beyond the normal everyday needs to pour something into our lap that’s maybe hoped for, but still unexpected.
We’ve got a lot we’re hoping for and working towards these days. We’re ready to do the hard work and the praying that will get the job done, but still, some surprises along the way sure would be great.
How about you? If you’ve got any sort of vision, there are probably things in your life that are going to take something extra from God to see it through. As I hold my new grandbaby close, I’m here to remind you that God is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him… and he’s got a few surprises in his bag too. Hope you experience one today.
Yours for revival - Steve
P.S. Hot off the press! The baby’s name is Matthew Steven. Head on over to Kathy’s Facebook for some photos of our new grandson!
