Attack of the Clones

Have any of you ever been to a movie theater when a big name movie has just been released? Remember Star Wars, as many young and old would venture out dressed as Chewbacca, Luke Skywalker, or Darth Vader to see an impressive array of futuristic spaceships and dynamic special effects. It’s always the same battle of good and evil with the classic line, “May the Force be with you.”

Friday nights, when I get ready to go on Daystar, I often feel like I am getting ready to attack some religious clones. These clones are either people who have been brought up in dead, powerless religion or others that may have experienced the presence of God but have allowed other dark things such as selfishness, greed, or pride to enter their hearts. These people were once being trained for the forces of good not unlike Anakin Skywalker before he went over to the dark side becoming the memorable Darth Vader.

Perhaps I would be better received by some of the Anakin’s out there if I spoke more like Yoda. “Remember, a Jedi's strength flows from the Force. But beware. Anger, fear, aggression. The dark side are they.” But, that’s not really me and I prefer to get right to the point.

As I preach my messages against absurd religion many have the initial reaction as Luke did when he said, “I can’t believe it!” Yoda had the perfect response and one I would use myself, “That is why you fail.” The religious system of the world still has hope and that hope is revival. Revival can remove the dark forces in our lives and churches so we can live for what is just and right. Unlike Star Wars, we don’t need to ask for help from Obi-Wan Kenobi, but ask for help and restore honor back to the king of kings, Jesus Christ! In revival, we teach all the Luke’s out there to use not the force of the Jedi, but come and experience the power and presence of God and use His force in your life.
