The Emmy® Award Winning Steve and Kathy Show!

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences proudly announced the 2008 Emmy® recipients at a black tie gala in St. Louis, Missouri, Saturday, October 4th. Nominated three times in the category "Religion" and one time in the "Human Interest - Program Story/Feature," was Steve Gray, creator and executive producer of the multiple award winning and sometimes controversial television program, The Steve & Kathy Show.

Over 500 attended the sold out Emmy® Gala to hear the 2008 Emmy® winners. "And the winner in 'Religion' is Real Preachers of Genius: Mega Church Pastor, The Steve & Kathy Show, Kansas City, MO - Steve Gray."

The SNL/Monty Python type skits almost exclusively written by Gray, attempt to disarm viewers with humor through Gray's trademark "tongue-in-cheek" style. With over a quarter of a million views on the popular YouTube site and growing, Gray's technique has found an ever increasing and widening audience for his unique approach to Christian programming while having a slightly different effect on the faith based counterpart, GodTube.

"Isn't it amazing that we are being censored and banned by the very group that says it wants to reach the people 'out there.' Judging from this Emmy®, it looks like the people have spoken," says Gray.

Steve Gray accepted the award by thanking the producer John Eschenbaum and others adding, "This is confirmation that religious broadcasting is long overdue for an overhaul." Enthusiastic nods of agreement, applause and verbal responses throughout the room indicated the accuracy of his statement.

"Each year, the Emmy® Awards showcase outstanding achievement in the media industry from the entire region," said NATAS Mid-America Chapter President and KETC Senior Producer, Jim Kirchherr, at the recent Emmy® Gala. The Academy's goal is to raise industry standards and encourage future generations of leaders, artists, and craft persons to reach for a higher level of excellence. The Emmy® is awarded to recognize the outstanding achievements, enourage the continuing pursuit of excellence within the industry and focus public attention upon professional, technical and personal accomplishments in the arts and sciences of television and advanced media.

"This is a significant statement for The Steve and Kathy Show which is only beginning its 3rd season - and what we are trying to do," added Steve Gray. "We believe that America is ready for a change in religious broadcasting and we are certainly prepared to give it to them."
