We are still buzzing here about the Emmy® nominations and trying to figure out who will go to the gala. It would be nice to win because I think it would mean so much to the body of Christ to have an Emmy® award winning Faith-based show.
The first book, My Absurd Religion, with its new design went out today. It is only being sent to the Christian networks but hopefully next week we will get it into the hands of some secular programs, which has been our plan all along.
Hopefully, this will be my last comment on Lakeland. What has happened has really made my job more difficult. God is doing so much in our services but I am hesitant to say much about it because as one person commented, "Oh no, another one." But other than the praise and worship down there, which I thought was pretty good, our services are much different. We are very careful not to use any hype or hoopla and to down-play ourselves and up-play Jesus. So, I am asking myself, what to do now. Should we back away for a
season or push through and hope people will not associate us with what happened there?
I have read the comments and explanations from many on Lakeland and most seem to realize some real mistakes were made. Most of them say the same thing. "We should have been more careful, more discerning." But there is
one thing that no one has seemed to have gotten. In my opinion, they should not have been so closed off. At least, those considered leaders who say they want revival should check out as many places that make the claim as
possible. The reason? The only way to tell a counterfeit is to know the real thing. But those who only stay within their own circle continue to surround themselves with people who say, "We've got it, keep going."
At World Revival Church, we invite and encourage all the "camps" to come and see for themselves. First, is it scriptural and is the preaching biblically accurate and would biblical scholars attest to it? Second, is
there real lasting fruit? Do those that come, leave loving Jesus more, serving more, giving of themselves more? Third, is there true repentance. Fourth, what do those inside and outside of the church say about the leadership? Pray that many who right now are confused and discouraged will come and see there is hope and get some back again.
Talk soon,
P. Steve
